Parapente Kiss AirwaveAN INTRODUCTORY INTERMEDIATE FOR RECREATIONAL PILOTS

The Kiss is a secure step in to the intermediateclass of paraglider. Aimed at recreational pilots who want maximum security andcomfort in the DHV 1-2 class, this glider is designed to make soaring stress free and effortless.
An ideal wing for pilots to gain their early cross country experience on, or experienced intermediate pilots who simply want stability and peace of mind in their flights

DESIGN NOTES

The profile and plan form of the Wave were a perfect starting block for the Kiss as we already had an excellent sail with great stability. However, we wanted to add more performance, and slightly more agility to make the wing appealing to more experienced pilots so we fine tuned the cut of the sail, and introduced some new line materials to reduce parasitic drag.
Before we cut the first prototype we also had the design program rewritten. The new software has incredible accuracy and allows panels to be shaped in a totally new way. The result is that we have been able to build in more tension on the leading edge. This keeps the sail clean and tight and creates a smoother, cleaner profile. Aesthetics aside this is a great way of adding performance without compromising either the handling or the stability.
To aid pitch stability we redesigned the internal diagonal structure. By moving away from a full length diagonal structure we were able to save more weight, reduce the inertia of the wing and aid re-inflation after closures. As a further boost to security we used a soft nylon edging tape on the bottom surface leading and edge seams, which is less likely to snag and cravat the wing than the harder Mylar tape. Finally to give the wing a real feeling of safety and stability in roll we used a centre rib rather than a weightshift cell. The centre rib is linked to the cells either side by diagonal ribs and controls the effect of weight-shift on the wing. The end result is an exceptionally clean wing with excellent performance for its class.
